How a Small Toronto Marketing & Communications Firm Eliminated Downtime on its High Profile Entertainment and Corporate Web Sites and Saved Money

The Challenge

With many high profile clients including Will Smith, Jamie Foxx, Invis, Marsh and the YMCA, DECOSTA Enterprises Inc. was looking to improve the reliability of the company’s servers to eliminate downtime and client inconvenience.  The servers were housed in the U.S., were expensive, and were not delivering the required uptime or redundancy required.

Aiming for 100% client satisfaction, and a cost effective, reliable solution, DECOSTA launched a search for an IT partner. Too much time and effort was being wasted in keeping disparate technologies and suppliers glued together, and the risk associated with client downtime was a major concern.

The Process and the Solution

TDCNet began with a thorough “discovery” process to ensure we had a comprehensive understand of the current situation, the company’s priorities, and technology mix in place.

TDCNet used its facility in the most advanced data centre in Canada to host two servers for DECOSTA at a lower cost than they were paying a U.S. company. The servers are brand new, fully redundant and monitored 24/7 to ensure maximum uptime and performance. If one server were to fail, the other will pick up the slack and ensure downtime does not take place.

As part of a comprehensive audit, TDCNet also developed a staged plan to upgrade the cost effectiveness and performance of all DECOSTA’s IT and internet services. This included switching the company’s ADSL connection to TDCNet and upgrading mission-critical hardware such as the office router and server.

Eliminate Downtime

John Pepper 2004-a“Before TDCNet, we were using aging technology and having serious concerns about the impact on our clients and on our internal productivity. TDCNet impressed us immediately with their ability to understand our business and translate our priorities into a customized solution that has eliminated downtime, added redundancy and in no small way saved us money. Having TDCNet take care of our IT has also freed up one of our key staff member’s time so he can work more on client projects and less on our computer issues. One of the reasons we turned to TDCNet is they specialize in small businesses like ours.  We are so pleased that I have gone out of my way to recommend to other business owners that they give TDCNet a call.”

-John Hertel, Chief Executive Officer, DECOSTA Enterprises Inc.
